Guest Blogger Christine: The Unexpected

When I was younger I was involved in a lot of activities. I was always coming and going, running off to my next soccer game, softball game, musical rehearsals, or climbing up the mountains that were just outside my backdoor. I would grab whatever snack happened to be in our fridge or on the counter, and out the door I went. Eating healthy” and getting fit were never really terms I used or heard growing up. Food and activities were just a common part of my day, there was no second thought.

That all changed when I became severely allergic to a wide variety of foods during my pregnancy with my daughter. Suddenly I was unable to eat dairy products along with avocados, tomatoes, mushrooms, eggs, and zucchini. It was the most bazaar thing ever. I had eaten these foods all my life, and within a few months, I couldn’t consume even a bite without becoming brutally sick. This made eating healthy tiring and a continuous battle for me. It was so much easier to just order the pizzas and pastas or processed foods that I knew wouldn’t hurt my stomach. Along with crappy eating habits, I was in a career field that had me in an office most days. I wasn’t getting out and exercising, I wasn’t feeding my body nutritional food, and you could see it. My body slowly started changing and before I knew it, I was a hearty 225 lbs. Reading that number on a scale was my “Holy Shi* moment. I realized I wasn’t doing myself any favors by continuing down this path. I needed a change. But how, where do I start? I’d never been on any sort of diet before and I’d never been to a gym, it was all so overwhelming. Then that magical moment came, you know, the one that shows you that the universe is listening.

I was on my way home, my usual boring commute, flipping through the radio stations trying to find one that was actually playing music instead of commercials when one caught my ear. “Want to transform your life? Apply for our 12-week fitness challenge and become a bmiSMART ambassador” and then it stated a number. Is this for real? I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I whipped out my phone and called. Within two weeks I had been chosen to participate. I would be receiving their bmiSMART I-REMOVE product along with personal trainer sessions, a nutritionist, and a “bag of swag” with things like a yoga mat and water bottle. They had set me up for success and I was ready to take it by the horns. Little did I know, this product was about to rock my world.

My new routine consisted of meal prepping, working out hard with my personal trainer and taking I-REMOVE after every meal. I was skeptic at first, like most of us are when we try something new and I was scared. Scared that because of all my food issues I wouldn’t be able to completely commit. After the first 3 weeks taking I-REMOVE I noticed my stomach just felt better. Less bloating, less digestion issues with each meal, less gas, less cramping.

I decided to slowly add in one of my trigger foods. . . eggs. Every time I had eaten eggs in the past my stomach would start severely cramping and I would have to lay down till it moved through my body. Now that I-REMOVE had been in my system for a while I wanted to see if I would react differently. What happened next was amazing. I cooked an egg and I ate it. (That’s not the amazing part.) Then I sat and I waited for the excruciating cramps to take over. Five minutes passed, then 10, then half an hour, then an hour, they never came. Wow I thought, is this even possible? It couldn’t be. So, I tested it again the next day, this time two eggs. I had to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. Same results. Incredible. As the weeks have continued (I’m in week 10 now) I have slowly added in each food I was previously allergic to with the same amazing results. Somehow, I-REMOVE has been like a reset button for my stomach. It’s allowed me to enjoy breakfast again, guacamole, salsa, ice cream...the list goes on and on! So many foods I took for granted before and have had to live without, I am able to enjoy again!

As if that’s not enough, the opportunity to have a personal trainer guide me through fitness plans I can maintain in real life and a nutritionist who’s showed me that cooking healthy meals doesn’t have to be complicated has all just been the icing on top. bmiSMART has not only changed my body on the outside (by the way, I’m down 6” in my waist as of today) but it has unexpectedly healed me on the inside.
